Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. At 2½ hours plus, it also has its longueurs but there are some spectacularly beautiful moments and Gosling makes an engaging companion who makes something poignant as well as funny out of Grace’s unwelcome elevation to hero status.

A long movie, very good. You have to figure out some of the story, but it is fairly easy to do so. Grace must make a decision for himself that brings all of the movie into the end.

My family of 5 just saw this amazing movie!! It was totally fun and entertaining the entire way through. No unnecessary language, violence or sex - just really good movie making. More of this please!!

Did not live up to the hype for me. I thought it was too long and unserious. Reminded me more of ET. I pictured alien species being more intelligent than humans. Graphics were good and kindof cool. Just okay for me.

This movie is outstanding. Would recommend for family viewing (kids 13? And older). Not like the standard boring kill creatures from space movies. Ryan Gosling is amazing. Lots of turns and twists .

Very good adaptation of an excellent book/story. Stayed true to form by using the flashbacks to Earth. Strong performance by Gosling (and Rocky!), touching and thought provoking.
